The challenge

Adrian Sandru had outgrown his solo practice. Sandru Avocati was a proper firm now — six lawyers, three practice areas (transnational criminal affairs, white-collar crime, compliance), and clients across Romania and Europe including representations before EU courts and the ECHR. The original personal website (which we’d also built) no longer fit the scope.

The new site needed to do several things at once: present the firm as a serious, internationally-oriented criminal defence practice; showcase 20+ distinct legal services organized across three categories; introduce each team member with individual profile pages; publish legal articles; support both English and Romanian audiences; and include a careers section to attract new talent. Plus dark mode — Adrian liked the dark mode from the first site and wanted it carried forward.

Our approach

WordPress with Elementor again, but this time with considerably more architectural planning. The single-page personal site was a straightforward build; this required a proper information architecture — a services taxonomy with three parent categories and 20+ individual service pages, a team section with dynamic profile pages, a bilingual content setup with English and Romanian versions, and an article publishing system.

The design direction shifted from the original site’s clean-but-simple aesthetic to something darker and more premium. Black backgrounds, green accent color, professional photography with transparent-background portraits, and a visual language that communicates weight and authority appropriate for criminal defence work at the European level.

The work

Information architecture. Structured the services into three pillars: Transnational Criminal Affairs (Interpol, extradition, EU court representation), Business and White Collar Crimes (tax fraud, cyber crimes, asset recovery, and more), and Compliance (corporate trainings, internal investigations, whistleblowing). Each service gets its own page with detailed descriptions.

Team profiles. Six individual profile pages with professional portraits, biographical narratives, specialization lists, and credentials. The founder’s profile is the most detailed, highlighting his PhD candidacy, published works, and international recognition.

Bilingual content. Full English and Romanian versions of the site, with language switching in the navigation. Not just translated UI — the content itself is adapted for each audience.

Dark mode. A full dark theme carried over from Adrian’s preference on the first site, implemented across every page and component with a toggle in the header.

Content and careers. Article publishing system for legal commentary, plus a full careers section with value proposition, opportunity descriptions for experienced and junior lawyers, and a direct application flow.

What we delivered

A website that matches the ambition of the firm it represents. Sandru Avocati went from a solo practitioner’s personal site to a full institutional presence — one that credibly positions the firm alongside larger practices competing for international criminal defence work. The service taxonomy alone communicates a breadth of expertise that a flat list never could, and the bilingual setup opens the door to the international clients the firm already serves.
